After Pungent Stench had broken up in 2007, calls for a reunion never ceased. This eventually led to guitar player, vocalist and founding member Martin „El Cochino“ Schirenc recruiting a new line up to pay tribute to Austria’s filthiest. With Danny Vacuum (The Accidents, Genocide SS) on bass and Mike G. Mayhem (Hollenthon) behind the drums the first show under the name „The Church Of Pungent Stench“ took place at Eindhoven Metal Meeting in 2013. Due to legal issues the band had to change their name and has been performing as „Schirenc Plays Pungent Stench“, ever since. Over the following years the band has played numerous festivals and headliner shows in Europe, USA and Latin America with overwhelmingly positive response from old and new fans. After the pandemic-induced hiatus, SPPS are itching to finally hit the stages of the world again. And since there could be no better place to celebrate their return, there will be not one, but two shows at this year’s Obscene Extreme Festival: The first set will feature „For God Your Soul...For Me Your Flesh“ in its entirety and the second one will be dedicated to the „Been Caught Buttering“-album.
