Tak tady opravdu řveme radostí!!! Protože tuto kapelu jsme mysleli, že už naživo nikdy neuvidíme!!! Belgická legendární punk/crustová úderka HIATUS zahraje poprvé na Obscene Extreme!!! Kapelu, která vždy hrála senzační punkový crust core v d-beatovém rytmu, který byl ale prostě jiný než všichni ostatní, plný chytlavých melodií, jsme v devadesátých letech milovali všichni!!!
HIATUS je tady od roku 1989 a prošel si několika pauzami, ale od roku 2019, kdy ohlásili několik reunion koncertů a které byly mimochodem naprosto dech beroucí, jsou borci v laufu a pokračují v živém hraní. Bohužel už bez zpěváka Willa, jehož zdravotní stav už neumožňuje s kapelou pokračovat. Zbytek HIATUS si ale dělí zpěvy mezi sebe a nás čeká parádní energická show, na kterou budeme vzpomínat i po letech!!! Počkejme na úvodní tóny "Entombed Universe" a jsme zpátky v teenagerovské revoltě!!!
Bio
Hiatus is a hardcore punk (crust) band from Liège, Belgium.
Formed in May 1989, at this time the line-up was Phill (guitar/vox), Ben (drums), Raf (bass/vox) and Phil (guitar/vox). They played in a Doom/Discharge/ENT style and recorded two demos : "The frightening men's story" following by "in my mind". Soon after Willy joined them on bass.
A first 7" was recorded called "I don't easily scared but..." on the French label Urban Alert Records and had a second pressing on Nabate/Mother Peace Records. A split 7-inch with Reach a mental road from Japan called "Severe Existence" was Hiatus' second 7-inch and was released on the Japanese label MCR Co. in 1991. Phill and Raf left the band then Azill joined as second guitarist. The line-up was then : Ben : drums, Phil : guitar, vocals, Willy : bass and Azill : guitar, vocals. They recorded several 7" : their classic "way of doom"on Profane existence label, a split with Embittered from England called "blind justice for all" and a split with Doom on flat earth/nabate records. Vrokker and Leffe from the belgian band Chronic Disease joined them for a short time on lead vocals.
They toured the United States and Canada in 1991with the band the Würst from Rhode Island and played with bands like Rorschach and born against.After the first Us tour, Willy left the bass and became the main singer so the band recruited a fifth member : Fred on bass.
In 1993, the first LP "from resignation...to revolt" is released on the US label sound pollution. Hiatus toured intensively across Europe with bands like No security, Svart Snö, Mushroom attack/Fleas and Lice, Six feet over... A live split 7" with the band Subcaos from Portugal called "disarm all pigs now !" is released in 1993 and another one with Fleas and Lice from Holland called "Polish bastards" which referred to skinheads who attacked both bands on a polish tour.Meanwhile, Fred quit the band and Jonas becomes the new Hiatus bass player.
A second album "El sueño de la razon produce monstruos" is released in 1995 on Nabate records. Hiatus toured the United States and Canada for the second time with american crusties State of fear. In 1996, a mini LP commonly called "the brain" is released on
Skuld releases/Profane Existence with elements of modern hardcore added to their crust punk sound. They splitted up in 1997.
After a hiatus of 12 years, Willy, Phil, Ben and Azill did three reunion gigs in 2009 (in Liège, Lille and London) with Chris Gascoigne (Health Hazard/Doom/Agnosy) on bass who was once their tour bass player.
On hiatus again, they eventually reunite again in 2019 with this time Sam (Werly/Suitside vs vedaplight) on bass. Now, they are back again and record a new album called "out of hands" beginning of 2022. They tour one week in May for the first time since 25 years in Mexico.
