Another one of the real top bands we are presenting for Wednesday's Old School Metal Forever fest is this Czech-American four-piece LAID TO WASTE!!! These guys have been around since 2014 and from the start they swear by total thrash metal blasting, full of absolutely stunning melodies, furious intensity and a feeling that seems to have fallen out of the grooves of the biggest thrash titans of the 80's and we're really not kidding!!! The energy in LAID TO WASTE's songs is unbelievable, and their great shows confirm the quartet's upward trend!!!
LAID TO WASTE have a tendency to kick your teeth out, with a sharply aimed thrash hammer!!! We will definitely hear more about this band, because the guys are preparing a record for 2023 and who knows their last album "Mental Decay" knows that the bar is set fucking high!!! At OEF we will surely see that LAID TO WASTE will surpass it!!! With no mercy...
Laid to Waste is a Czech-American speed/thrash band formed in late 2014 in Pilsen after the dissolution of Kill Kill Kill. Its founding members are guitarists Skyland Kobylak (USA) and Vojtech Cerny (CZ), singer/bassist Zdenek Smucr (CZ) and drummer Ryan Mowbray (USA).
Beginning the following year, the band recorded brand new material under its new name Laid to Waste at KVS Studio, realeasing the full-length album Counterattack in July 2015. The album reached great acclaim, and bigger gig opportunities began to open up for the band.
Later that year, we were signed to the Support Underground label and our debut was subsequently released on vinyl.
After touring abroad with Bajonet and 1000 Bombs, the band went back to KVS Studio, resulting in the second album Mental Decay, which was released on CD and cassette on Support Underground.
Three of the four members then moved to Prague and the band's activity began to stagger. In September 2019, drummer Ryan Mowbray left the band and was replaced by Andrej Petro of Acid Force. Due to the pandemic, only 3 shows were played; Andrej Petro quits as drummer as well.
At the beginning of 2021, the band finds new lifeblood in Adam Nesvorný (Crippled Fingers, Congenital Anomalies). After rehearsing a live set and playing shows around the Czech Republic, they've now begun to compose songs for their third album, which is planned for release by the end of 2023.
