If it's an old school ride, then at least it's on a proper heavy steed!!! Canadian metal bards EXCITER will grace us with their first visit to Obscene Extreme!!! Yes, EXCITER, who have legendary albums like "Heavy Metal Maniacs" or "Violence & Force" on their sleeves and who have been pushing their metal car since 1978, which will make them one of the oldest bands ever to play OEF!!! And not only that, because EXCITER has been and undoubtedly still is a huge inspiration for bands in the speed/thrash scene everywhere!!!
In an almost original line-up, with singing drummer Dan Beehler and bassist Allan Johnson joined by guitarist Daniel Dekay in 2018, EXCITER will show us their legendary energy show!!! And they will do it on Wednesday at the Old School Metal Forever program, as one of its headliners!!! There will be headbanging!!! There will be Thrash!!! There will be Speed!!! So what do you expect, Heavy Metal Maniac???
Bio
EXCITER is a Canadian speed metal band from Ottawa, formed in 1978. Named after a song by Judas Priest, they are widely considered to be one of the first speed metal bands and a seminal influence of the thrash metal genre. The band was heavily influenced by a variety of music styles including Judas Priest, Black Sabbath, AC/DC, Deep Purple, Scorpions, Iron Maiden, Motörhead, Rush, Jethro Tull and Grand Funk Railroad. Their debut record, Heavy Metal Maniac, in 1983 is largely accepted as one of the first speed/thrash metal records and is quoted as being a main influence for some of the biggest names in metal today.
The band currently consists of original members Dan Beehler (drums/vocals) & Allan Johnson (bass) who are joined by guitarist Daniel Dekay. Known for their energetic, tight, and deafening performances, the band plays material from across their entire legendary Beehler fronted catalog. Despite many changes in personnel, EXCITER has managed to keep a dedicated following for over 30 years.
