GET READY FOR A LETHAL BARRAGE OF FURIOUS OLD SCHOOL HARDCORE!!! For the first on the OEF stage, a true legend of US punk: FINAL CONFLICT!!!
Straight outta Long Beach, California, FINAL CONFLICT carried the flag of urgent and pissed off hardcore form more than fourty years! Their music is so angry and ferocious that inspired hardcore and grindcore bands alike, making their name one of the most reverred and incendiary in the whole scene.
Even if their discography is quote short compared to their career lenght, FINAL CONFLICT music is a mainstand in the whole US hardcore punk and "Ashes to Ashes" (their first album from 1988) is still a jawdropping manifestation of face-stomping punk.
Bio
Final Conflict is an American punk band from Los Angeles, California, formed in 1983.
Regarded as one of the first extreme hardcore (or crossover) punk bands from Southern California. Inspired by the second wave of UK punk bands like Discharge and Exploited and US counterparts The Germs, Crucifix, and Battalion of Saints. Band founder Jeff Harp took punk energy fused with (another favorite of his) Black Sabbath to forge his vision of the sort of band he wanted to see/hear. Forging the intensity of punk rock with heavy guitar tones and apocalyptic lyrical content. In early 1987 Pusmort Records released their debut LP “Ashes to Ashes” which is considered an underground classic by many underground punk and metal listeners. The pummeling fast and heavy punk attack, lyrically denouncing unjust wars, racism and the brutality of police and governments was the perfect soundtrack to the Cold War era punk scene. Their perseverance and dedicated fan base helped spark a Los Angeles and Orange County punk rock revival of sorts during the late 1980s and early 1990s. Final Conflict have stayed active and relevant through the years performing and sporadically releasing new material.
In 2013 Final Conflict reunited 3/4 of the "Ashes to Ashes" lineup for the Chaos in Tejas Festival in Austin TX and Maryland Death Fest in Baltimore 2014 and has continued to perform.
Currently the band's lineup includes 1/2 of the original 1987 "Ashes to Ashes" lineup. Ron Martinez (vocals), Jeff Harp (guitar) with Anthony Robles (bass) and Nick Manning (drums) and have consistently played with this lineup since 2016.
“It’s great to be able to still play these songs after all these years.. what isn’t so great, is the horrible things we were writing about are still happening, to this day. All the more reason for us to continue to play and vent our anger. We haven’t mellowed out with age.. if anything we are more pissed off than before.”
