MASTERS OF EXTREME DISHARMONY!!! For all fans of weird, experimental, but still fucking hard music, here is a real treat!!! Old masters of "weird riffs" DISHARMONIC ORCHESTRA will come to OEF!!! The trio, which was founded in 1987 and was at the origin of the extreme metal scene in our southern neighbours, Austria. But DISHARMONIC ORCHESTRA went about it really differently than their contemporaries Pungent Stench for example, and incorporated very untypical avant-garde elements and really twisted riffs into their music, which can be heard on their albums of which the first one "Expositionprophylaxe" is truly legendary!!!
The band exists with some hiatus until today and we are really happy to invite them to Obscene Extreme 2025, for the first time ever!!!
Disharmonic Orchestra is an Austrian death metal band formed in 1987 in Klagenfurt. The band is known for its unique style that combines elements of death metal, grindcore, and avant-garde music. Over their career, they have made a name for themselves with their experimental approach and technical musicianship.
The current lineup consists of:
• Patrick Klopf (guitar, vocals)
• Martin Messner (drums)
• Hoimar Wotawa (bass, vocals)
Early Years and Initial Work (1987-1991)
In 1988, they released their first demo recording, "The Unequalled Visual Response Mechanism." The same year, they followed up with the EP "Requiem for the Forest," which helped them establish a foothold in the metal scene.
Their debut album, "Expositionsprophylaxe," was released in 1990 and received positive reviews for its mix of technical riffs and aggressive sound. The album also showcased the first signs of their avant-garde approach, setting them apart from other death metal bands.
Breakthrough and Experiments (1992-1994)
In 1992, Disharmonic Orchestra released their second album, "Not to Be Undimensional Conscious." This album marked a turning point in their style as they began incorporating more avant-garde and progressive elements into their music. Complex song structures and the inclusion of unconventional instruments and styles became a hallmark of the band.
In 1994, they released the album "Pleasuredome," which continued their experimental approach and impressed both fans and critics. The band toured extensively and built a loyal fan base.
Mid-Phase and Hiatus (1995-2001)
Following the success of "Pleasuredome," the band's activity slowed down. Members pursued other projects, and Disharmonic Orchestra took a hiatus. During this time, they remained influential in the metal community, and their earlier works continued to be appreciated.
Return and Later Years (2002-Present)
Disharmonic Orchestra returned in 2002 with the album "Ahead." The album showed a more mature band that retained its experimental side while also incorporating more melodic and accessible elements.
In 2016, they released their latest album to date, "Fear of Angst." The band continues to tour and perform at various metal festivals.
Influence and Legacy
Disharmonic Orchestra is regarded as one of the most innovative bands in the death metal genre. Their influence extends beyond the metal community, as they have demonstrated that extreme music styles and avant-garde approaches can be successfully combined. Their albums, particularly "Not to Be Undimensional Conscious," are often seen as pioneering works in the development of technical and avant-garde metal.
The band remains a cult favorite and is appreciated for their boldness and artistic integrity.
