Nepalese wild fire!!! Yeah!!! CHEPANG are returning to the Obscene Extreme festival!!! These Nepalese immigrants, who have curently settled in the USA, are well known to you all. Their wild performance at OEF in 2018 is still fresh in our minds, honestly, who could forget that brutal show, dominated on stage by two drummers!!! CHEPANG formed in 2016 and, in just over a decade, have carved out a rather prominent place in the extreme music underground. So much so, that their latest album to date, "Jhyappa", was released by the renowned Relapse Records.
Immigrindcore – that’s what CHEPANG themselves call their music and we can look forward to a brutal dose of grindcore mayhem with elements of Nepalese folklore, which is as raw and harsh as a high-altitude camp below the Death Zone on Mount Everest!!!

Chepang is a New York City-based grindcore band originally from Nepal, formed in 2016. Over the course of nearly a decade, the band has forged a reputation for delivering chaotic, abrasive, and relentlessly aggressive grindcore while carrying the spirit of the Nepali underground into the international extreme-music community.
Chepang’s sound is an uncompromising collision of grindcore, hardcore, and extreme punk—blistering speed, pulverizing riffs, fractured rhythms, and controlled chaos delivered with the raw energy of a band that has never lost touch with its DIY roots. Their music is as unpredictable as it is punishing, refusing to settle into conventional boundaries.
The band’s recording history began with the Lathi Charge EP (2016), followed by their debut full-length, Dadhelo – A Tale of Wildfire (2017). They continued to expand their sound through collaborations and split releases, including Test/Chepang (2018) and Chatta (2020), followed by Yautja/Chepang (2021).
In 2023, Chepang released the Chepang/Racetraitor Split EP alongside their third full-length, Swatta. The band’s evolution reached another major milestone with Jhyappa, released in 2025 through Relapse Records—a release that further cemented Chepang’s position within the global grindcore and extreme- music landscape.
