Info
The apocalypse is coming from Brazil!!! Some might say this is where Slayer and Discharge collided, but these lads certainly don’t need to copy anyone, because ARMAGEDOM, a quartet from São Paulo, Brazil, have been around since 1984 and they influenced more than one generation of extreme music bands. From their absolutely hellish debut "Silencio Funebre" right up to the present day, ARMAGEDOM have been riding the wave of totally dirty punk metal, with the pedal of speed and aggression pressed right to the floor!!!
Fans of Obscene Extreme already had the chance to see ARMAGEDOM back in 2018 at Battlefield, where, after a set by these four horsemen of the apocalypse, nothing but utter devastation remained!!! And this time it certainly won’t be any different, even though the lads have added a few more years to their age. ARMAGEDOM is a goal straight from Pelé's boot!!! Let’s welcome them back to OEF!!!
Bio
Formed in São Paulo, Brazil, in 1984, Armagedom is one of the bands that helped shape the raw and uncompromising sound of Brazilian punk. Born from the underground scene of the early 1980s, the band emerged with a furious DIY attitude and lyrics dealing with misery, suffering, social inequality, political exploitation, violence, and government neglect.
The original lineup featured Javier (vocals), Ricardo (drums), Barriga (guitar), and Eduardo (bass). In their early days, the band had almost no equipment and no formal musical knowledge. With important help from Redson of Cólera, who provided rehearsal space, instruments, equipment, and basic musical guidance, Armagedom developed its primitive, noisy, and aggressive sound.
In 1985, the band recorded 14 songs at Eldorado Studio. Two of them, “Mortos de Fome” and “Super Projetos,” appeared on the legendary Brazilian compilation Ataque Sonoro, marking Armagedom’s first record release. The following year, the band released its classic debut LP, Silêncio Fúnebre, recorded at Vice-Versa Studio in only 16 hours.
After several years of activity, Armagedom went on hiatus in 1993 and returned in 1998. Since then, the band has continued to record, tour, and remain active in the Brazilian and international underground punk scene. Releases such as Das Cinzas Ao Inferno (2001), Sem Esperanças (2008), Dez Mil Anos de Terror (2012), Ganância Irracional, Extinção Inevitável (2013), and Em Lenta Decomposição (2018) have carried the band’s aggressive and socially conscious sound into new generations.
Armagedom has toured extensively in Europe, playing in countries including Germany, the Netherlands, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Italy, the Czech Republic, Austria, Poland, Slovakia, France, and Spain. The band has also shared stages and projects with important names from the international punk and hardcore underground, including Finnish band Força Macabra.
In 2018, Armagedom appeared at Obscene Extreme in the Czech Republic. The band returns to the festival in 2027, continuing a history that now spans more than four decades.
For this edition, Armagedom will present a special lineup dedicated to the songs of its 1986 classic Silêncio Fúnebre. Javier takes on vocals and guitar, joined by Leonardo “Léo” on drums and Magoo on bass.
40+ years of Brazilian punk. From São Paulo to the world. Armagedom plays Silêncio Fúnebre.
